When you report a problem, it helps to include the app version (Settings › About), your device and system version, what you did and what happened. Please don't send a backup file or personal data we don't need.
Backups and moving to a new phone
How do I back up my lists?
Tap Settings › Your data › Export backup and choose where to save it. The file
(packing-backup-YYYY-MM-DD.json) contains your trips and templates.
- The app does not encrypt the file. Keep it somewhere safe.
- A backup is a snapshot, not a sync. Export again after bigger changes.
- Reminders are not part of backups.
- Google's or Apple's automatic device backups don't include your trips. Uninstalling may remove local data – export first.
How do I move to a new phone – also between Android and iPhone?
- On the old phone: Settings › Your data › Export backup.
- Move the file to the new phone any way you like, for example through cloud storage or a cable.
- On the new phone: Settings › Your data › Import backup and pick the file. The preview shows how many trips, items and templates will be added. You can also take over the file's settings (weight unit, appearance).
This works both ways between Android and iPhone because both apps use the same backup format. Imported trips and templates are added as independent copies; your existing data is not changed. Importing the same file twice creates two copies. Set reminders again on the new phone. Restore Lifetime Pro separately (see below).
The import doesn't work.
The app shows the reason, and your existing data is not changed. If it says “This backup comes from a newer app version”, update the app and import again. If the file is damaged, try a fresh export from the old phone.
Lifetime Pro
How do I restore my Pro purchase?
- Android: sign in to the Play Store with the Google account you bought with, then tap Settings › Lifetime Pro › Restore purchase in the app.
- iPhone: sign in with the Apple Account you bought with, then tap Settings › Lifetime Pro › Restore purchase in the app.
You need an internet connection for this. If it says “No purchase found for this store account”, check that you are signed in with the right account. If a payment is still pending, Pro unlocks once the store confirms it.
Does my purchase work on Android and iPhone?
No. Android and iOS purchases are separate. There is no account to move a purchase between them. You can still take your lists with you using a backup file.
Refunds
Purchases go through the stores. Request a refund from Google Play or via Apple. After a refund Pro is no longer active; the travelers, bags and templates you already have stay available.
Data and reminders
How do I delete my data?
- Everything: Settings › Your data › Delete all data on this device. All trips, templates and settings are deleted from this device. Exported backup files and your store purchase are not affected; use “Restore purchase” to get Pro back.
- One trip: Delete trip in the trip's menu. This can't be undone.
- Uninstalling the app also deletes its data.
- Delete exported backup files and shared text yourself, wherever you saved them.
We do not store any app data about you.
My reminder came late or not at all.
Reminders are delivered by the operating system and may arrive a little late; don't rely on them as an alarm. Check that notifications are allowed for the app – if they are off, your checklist still works. Battery saver or Focus/Do Not Disturb can delay or hide notifications. Archived or deleted trips no longer have a reminder, and duplicated or imported trips don't take one over.
Weights and rules
Does the app check airline rules or bag limits?
No. Weights and bag limits are your own estimates. The app doesn't check airline rules, travel documents, visas or entry requirements. “Checklist complete” only means your list is ticked off. Check your travel documents and airline rules separately, for example with your airline.
Why does it say “Partial weight”?
Some items have no weight. The app then shows the known weight instead of a misleading total. Enter “Weight per piece” in the item if you know it.
Weights and bag limits are your own estimates. The app doesn't verify airline rules or travel requirements.
